The British Psychological Society (BPS) Division of Occupational Psychology annual conference took place between the 8th and 10th January, bringing together occupational psychologists from across many different organisations. Matthew Syed spoke on the topic of diversity of thought and how it links to performance. The Matthew Syed Consulting team also presented a paper on applying growth mindset to the world of work.

The BPS aims to make psychology accessible to all, to promote and advance the discipline, and to set professional standards that promote excellence and ethical practice. The theme of the conference was “The Practice of Science: Occupational Psychologists at Work”.

Matthew gave a talk about how growth mindset and diversity of thought link to individual and team performance. As well as exploring the science behind performance, he also shared real-world examples of high-performance teams.

Matthew Syed Consulting’s chief psychologist also presented a paper on how to measure and apply growth mindset attitudes and behaviours in a work setting. This session was bought to life with case studies from organisations that had implemented growth mindset practices to drive higher performance.
