This product update focuses on the Mindset Advantage report suite and the norm group.

Personal Report/ Candidate Report

The Personal Report/ Candidate Report currently presents percentage scores for each of the 9 dimensions of growth mindset.

These percentage scores will be replaced by percentile scores, and the interpretation guidelines in the report will be updated accordingly.

Percentile scores are generated by comparing an individual’s results against a norm group.

This will allow you to compare scores directly across dimensions. E.g. a percentile of 75% on Attitude to Failure is equivalent to a percentile of 75% on Curiosity. Note – percentile scores can range from 1 to 99.

Candidate Recruitment Profile Report

There will be several updates to the Recruitment Report:

  • Percentages to percentiles: Similar to the Personal Report (above), the Recruitment Report will use percentile scores going forward. If you use both the Personal Report and the Recruitment Report, the scores for a given person will align. In addition, you will be able to directly compare scores across dimensions.
  • Attributes: The names of the attributes that you can select to tailor the report outputs have been updated and more detailed descriptions of what these look like are available. These attributes will be used for all future profiles. For a copy of the updated attributes, click here.

  • Interview prompts: The interview suggestions have been updated to specific interview questions to ask.
    • Example current: Ask the candidate about a time when a peer within their leadership team challenged a decision they had made. How did they respond and what was the eventual outcome? Ask how they respond when the feedback is in an area that they perceive themselves as expert in.
    • Example updated: Tell me about a time when a peer within your leadership team challenged one of your decisions. How did you respond? What was the outcome? How do you respond to feedback in an area where you are an expert?
  • Consistency score: This score looks at how a candidate has responded to the questions throughout Mindset Advantage and gives an indication of how consistent the responses have been.

Organisational Culture Report

Like the Personal Report/ Candidate Report, the Organisational Culture Report also currently presents percentage scores for each of the 6 dimensions of a growth mindset culture.

These percentage scores will also be replaced by percentile scores.

Percentile scores are generated by comparing results against a norm group.

Again, this will allow you to compare scores directly across dimensions. E.g. a percentile of 56% on Freedom is equivalent to a percentile of 56% on Trust.

Norm Group

Using anonymised data that we have collected from Mindset Advantage, we will be updating the norm group used to benchmark new respondents.

The data used for this updated norm group was collected between January 2019 and December 2023.

Timeline

The updates described above will come into effect from Wednesday, 31 July for all Mindset Advantage users.
